Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the “Terms” or “EULA”) are the end-user license and community agreement for the ChatNative mobile application and this website, operated by Lovette Software (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using ChatNative, you agree to these Terms.

1. No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users

ChatNative has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Language exchange only works when people feel safe. Harassment, hate, threats, sexual or pornographic material, spam, scams, and other abusive behaviour are prohibited. We will remove violating content and may suspend or permanently delete accounts that break these rules, including after a first serious offence.

2. Who may use ChatNative

ChatNative is for people 16 and over. You must provide an accurate date of birth during onboarding. You may not create an account for someone else, impersonate others, or use the app if we have banned you.

3. The license we grant you

We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use ChatNative for language learning, subject to these Terms. We and our licensors own the app, branding, and related software. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or resell the service except as allowed by law.

4. Your content

You are responsible for the messages, photos, videos, voice notes, profile information, and other material you post (“User Content”). You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant us a license to host, transmit, moderate, and display it as needed to operate ChatNative, including automated safety checks.

You represent that you have the right to share what you post, and that it does not violate these Terms, the law, or anyone else’s rights.

5. Prohibited content and conduct

You must not post, send, or do any of the following:

  • Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or threats
  • Sexual, pornographic, or otherwise sexually explicit material
  • Nudity or sexual content involving anyone 17 or under — we report this
  • Violence, self-harm encouragement, or illegal activity
  • Spam, scams, phishing, or unsolicited advertising
  • Sharing someone else’s private information without permission
  • Impersonation, or attempts to evade a block or ban
  • Content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property

There is no grace period for this behaviour. We may remove content and eject the user who provided it without prior notice.

6. How we filter objectionable content

Before a photo or video is delivered to another person, ChatNative runs an automated safety check (including image and sampled video-frame moderation). If the check detects sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate material, the file is not sent. We keep a record for admin review. Text, voice, and profile content may also be reviewed when it is reported or when we investigate abuse.

Automated filters are not perfect. Users must still follow these Terms, and you should flag anything the filter misses.

7. How to flag content, report abuse, and block users

ChatNative includes in-app tools so you can act immediately:

  • Flag a message: press and hold a message in chat and choose Report. That message is sent to our team with recent conversation context. It is then hidden from your chat.
  • Report a person: open their profile and choose Report, then tell us why (harassment, spam, inappropriate content, underage user, or other).
  • Block a person: open their profile and choose Block. Blocking deletes your shared chat and call history and stops future matching or messaging between you.
  • Contact us: use Support in the app menu, the support form on this website, or email lewis@lovettesoftware.com to report inappropriate activity. Please include what happened and, if you can, the other person’s name.

We review reports and aim to remove violating content and eject the offending user within 24 hours. Repeat or severe abuse can lead to immediate, permanent account removal.

8. Enforcement

We may, at our discretion: hide or delete User Content; warn, suspend, or permanently delete an account; and keep records needed for safety and legal compliance. If your account is removed, your license to use ChatNative ends.

9. Privacy

How we collect and use information is described in our Privacy Policy, including safety data such as reports, blocks, and automated content checks.

10. Disclaimers

ChatNative is a language-exchange service. Other users are not employees or screened teachers. Conversations happen at your own risk. We do not guarantee that every partner will follow these Terms, that filters will catch every violation, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the app is provided “as is”.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. The current version will always be posted on this page. If the changes are material, we may also ask you to agree again in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Contact
